2023
72 inch piñata hand-made by the artist
Queerceañera is a performance that celebrates Mexican heritage and advocates for inclusion and equity. The artist places themselves suspended on air next to a 72-inch piñata. With graceful aerial acrobatics, the artist strikes the piñata, symbolizing unity against societal barriers. After a sequence of thrilling rotations and strikes, the piñata bursts open showers the stage with colorful confetti, a symbolic representation of breaking down barriers. It's a moment of triumph, symbolizing the collective commitment to inclusivity and equity.
